A look at the races

EDIT: Thanks to Ted for pointing out my huge error in the private school conference situation. Serves me right for trusting Eurosport…

Let’s take a peek at the conference standings for the local girls’ soccer teams:

Fayetteville Academy (9-2-1 4-0), ranked fourth in the latest NCSCA Private School Poll, thrashed No. 10 Cape Fear, 6-0, last night to hold the lead in the Cape Fear Independent Conference.

The O’Neal School is being shown by Eurosport to be 3-0 overall and 2-0 in league games, which if true, would be good for second.

Village Christian (5-1, 2-1) is in third place, with Cape Fear, Fayetteville Christian and Harrell’s Christian rounding out the field.

Gray’s Creek (8-4-1, 3-2) is currently in fifth place in the Cape Fear Valley, behind Western Harnett, Union Pines, Harnett Central and Southern Lee.

Meanwhile, Pinecrest 7-3, 6-0) is sitting in its familiar perch atop the Mid-Southeastern Conference. Jack Britt (7-4-1, 6-1) is in second, followed by Scotland, Hoke and Richmond.

Seventy-First, Douglas Byrd and Westover round out the standings.

Terry Sanford has a choke hold on the Two Rivers race with a 10-1 overall and 8-0 league record. Lumberton (9-2-1, 4-1-1) is in second, followed by South View, Pine Forest, E.E. Smith, Cape Fear and Purnell Swett.

Great update! I just wanted to make one correction. The Eurosport Scoreboard site is not current on the conference alignment for a few of these teams. The conference that Fayetteville Academy is in is the Cape Fear Independent Conference (CFIC). It includes the following teams:
    Fayetteville Academy
    Fayetteville Christian
    Village Christian
    The O’Neal School
    Cape Fear Academy
    Harrells Christian

I am not sure of the makeup of the current Eastern Plains conference, but it no longer includes any of the teams listed above. I am sure the volunteers associated with these teams will update the Eurosport site in due course.

Thanks for the wonderful coverage…good job.
